Story Substance

You want to tell a story, you need words, right?

Gotcha. Nope.

Wait, you say, how am I going to write a story without words? Simply put, you won't. But writing a story isn't the only way to tell one. Movies, TV shows, as well as paintings or songs often tell stories. And as the saying goes, a picture can be worth a thousand words. Words are tools that writers use to create stories, just as artists might experiment with paintbrush, pencil, both, or neither. What's more important to the artist is the basic shape or forms of their subjects, the rest is for adding layers and depth.

Likewise, with stories, writers should consider basic story structures before words.
